Chocolate Tart (YUM!)

This is the first shot i've taken with my new light tent that i bought online only after i made my own (see earlier post) and clicked on a light tent google add that popped up beside that post. $40 for an 80cm, 4 backdrop and front lens screen.

Got this one becuse my home made one will shortly start to fall apart as the joins/hinges are all cotton.

Liquid Dance

Had to post this one, i've used it as my Splash entry for this years Canon Photo5 competition. Liquid is water, some ice-cream some beetroot and beetroot juice :)

Halloween

This Halloween I tried carving a pumpkin that i picked up for $3.50 and carved with a free 5cm paring knife I got from a demonstration at Big W one day, this is the result:

I made this 6 days before the Halloween party (a little bit early but i'd never made one before, ended up using cooking oil and Vaseline to preserve it whilst it sat in the fridge)

Next the Party, here are a few costumes:

And of course the pumpkin in action:

My Pumpkin didn't look to scary, not until I had a look from the inside out!!

And a projection of the light from the pumpkin onto the wall

Bendigo Show 2009

Just got back from this years show, but I never go into the showgounds!
After 9pm entry is free and the gates are opened, went there tonight with my wife and daughter to go see the fireworks that start at 9, but we never got in. Resulting in the following views of the fireworks (taken on my phone)

Just before 9 there was a fight near the main gates (didn't see it). This caused a lockout where no-one could get in, only out. However shortly after, anyone with a stamp for today was allowed back in, this is a very strange lockout!! So thanks to some idiot teenages and the poor handling of this situation by both the Bendigo Agricultural Show Society and the Security people, a lot of families with kids who also came in to see the fireworks were treated to the same view as above.

Light Text/Soft Box/Light Box

I was looking through a camera house catalogue dreaming about the equipment I want when I came across a 'Portable Photo Studio' for $199. Thats a lot of money that would be better spent on a new lens so I thought I'd try building my own collapsible light box.

Found this DIY one (http://www.jpgmag.com/stories/458) and based mine on this, however mine is all hand stitched instead of glued.

Total Cost: $12 (and a few needle pricks), but only because I bought some small wooden sticks to build a wooden framed one before I found this coat hanger version.

Here are some of the first test shots:

Now with some levels/dodge adjustments in PSE7

Boxing Kangaroos

Took these right next to the caravan park we stayed at the Grampians in Halls Gap, right next to the park was a huge open field filled with kangaroos, that were able to wonder in and out of the park as they liked, there is no fence bordering the park.

One night i got out of the tent to go to the toilets at around 4am and totally forgot about the roos, i took one step away from the tent and two roos in the dark jumped away, scared the crap out of me :)
